The Zilukha anims (nuns) come from all corners of Bhutan. Their ages range from girls who are 13 years old to long-practicing anims of close to 60 years of age, building a family atmosphere at the nunnery. Many of the nuns come from simple farming backgrounds and some are here because of difficult family circumstances. Their cohesion is the motivation to study and practice the dharma and to provide spiritual services for the local community, larger society, and all sentient beings. Among other wide-ranging interests, they find joy in storytelling, painting, research, meditation, photography, traditional music, hip-hop and rap, to name a few.
